Jurod Silvergem is an orphaned half-Lythrain living a peaceful life in a monastery of reclusive healers. His life is upended however, when the monastery is attacked, the Father is kidnapped, and a spell book of ancient secrets is stolen. Jurod joins with Xardan Ta’Caran, the Knight of the Black Era, an infamous mage hunter and mass murderer, and Ilays Greenbranch, the Lythrain warmage.

Together, Jurod, Xardan, and Ilays chase the thieves across Strolm in an attempt to save the Father of the monastery and keep the secrets of the spell book from the evil King Tennlka. Amid unknown motives, unexpected betrayals, dark secrets, and strong emotions of love, anger, and suspicion, Jurod and his companions strive to rid the world of the King, end his tyrannical reign, and prevent the deaths of countless innocent people.
